Week 10 (31/5/2021)
This week, we were starting on project 4 which is "SELF-TITLED". This would be our final project for this module.
Theme : SELF-TITLED
Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression. The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest.
Idea Development
[BIOGRAPHY]
Intro
Thaqif is a final year student in Taylor’s Uni and currently majoring in Software Engineering and minoring in Creative Media Design. His hobbies are playing online games and listening to music.
Paragraph 1
I love expressing myself through creating things. Since I’m expressing myself in my artwork, it basically documents the different stages and phases of my life. Right now, I mostly create physical things that I can wear such as customizing sneakers and creating apparel. In the future, I wish to have the opportunity to create stuff with more variety.
Paragraph 2
The thing that motivates me to work towards my dream is seeing how my mentors could create beautiful artworks and have the financial freedom to do it. I would love to be able to create while being able to support my family financially.
Summary
I want to add elements and ideas from my past artworks into this current one.
[STATEMENT OF WORK]
Intro
This work is to showcase my skills and passion. This would be like a resume for my future.
Paragraph 1
The concept is using a men's fashion magazine layout to showcase my details and skills as a resume. This would be used for job applications in the future.
Paragraph 2
The message is to always do what you love. As you can see, I’m actually majoring in software engineering while minoring in creative media design. Being a software engineer is my job but I would also like to pursue my passion and hobby as a designer.
Summary
Passion is the genesis of genius.

Week 11 (7/6/2021)
This week, we were on design direction which is doing sketches and creating a draft of the digital poster.
Sketches
Below are the first 2 sketches that I made based on my write up. The idea of these sketches is that it shows that I have a lot of things on my mine and I tend to trip all over them.

After having consultation with Mr Fauzi, he suggested that I do a resume type poster with reference to men's fashion magazines so I created 2 more sketches as shown below.

Photoshoot
For the photoshoot I just made space in my apartment living room which is actually a pretty small place. However, since its MCO so I had no other place to shoot. The images below are from the photoshoot.

Week 12 (14/6/2021)
This week, we were on design execution and post production. After receiving feedback on my poster designs, it was still not up to standards so I had to change the composition of it. I was told to create a composition without the subject first (typography only), then add the subject in after.
Artist Statement
This artwork showcases what I have studied during my time in Taylor’s University. This work uses more typographic elements to represent work I do which is typing a lot of code. Also, the labels for major, spec and minor have closing html tags which is normally used in web design as I mostly do interface designs for websites and applications. Moreover, the typography composition and photography represents the creative or design side of me.
Week 13 (21/6/2021) - Week 14 (28/6/2021)
This week, we were on animation and finalizing the poster. I've been given a suggestion where the animation is like swiping through Instagram stories. So here is the first draft for the animation.
This was the first draft and after consultation, I was suggested to change the transition at the end where it turns dark to another image of myself.
After that, I was further suggested to add an interface of my brands Instagram page.
The animation above was the final animation of the digital poster.
Artist Statement
The “slide in” motion represents Instagram's swipe motion. The texts will then be highlighted following its importance from my major, specialization to minor. This provides a hierarchy of my courses. The black tint at the end allows users to stop the Instagram story and have a clearer view of my other details such as my hobbies and my passion. The hobbies listed are gaming, listening to music and I’ve also listed my passion which is my clothing brand “no comment” or @plsnocomment on Instagram. The music also changes which represents my other self.
Reflection
This project gave me an opportunity to explore my interest and also forced me to be confident by putting my picture out there. I've learned that the process of doing a project is very important starting from the write up to the sketch and the final product. Subtle animations also helps a lot in conveying a message or even make the art piece more interesting. Lastly, I would like to thank Mr Fauzi and Mr Martin for the semester as this is my last semester here in Taylor's, I am grateful to have taken this module and the skills learnt during this semester will definitely help in my future projects.
