For our final project we are suppose to take inspiration from billboards. I didn't really know how I was going to go about it but when I was taking photos of billboards around Sunway Pyramid. My friend pointed out that maybe I should make something related to shoes. I am very interested in collecting shoes and the history of sneakers. Its like a hobby for me to collect sneakers and knowing the art and story behind the shoes gives me a strong appreciation towards sneakers.
From this billboard I realized that this shoe retailer is from the UK and that is what everyone only knows about. JD Sports, the shoe retailer doesn't mostly sell shoes from the UK but from around the world and no one knows that the Japanese fashion/streetwear scene plays a huge role as pioneers towards the evolution of all these sneakers that we have now. So in this final project I plan to merge japanese style to the western shoes.

Final Piece
This is my final piece of this project. The message that I'm trying to show is that, history is important and we should not disregard what has been done in the past that has helped us in the present. The fashion/streetwear scene in Japan needs to be recognized and appreciated more as it is the pioneer and inspiration towards the creation of new sneakers/apparel all over the world. I'm a sneaker enthusiast and I feel that one should know more about the history of something they like which will make it more interesting and appreciated more. So in this final piece, it shows the japanese watercolor art combined with the sneaker from NIKE. The cherry blossom tree and the mountains shows the japanese aspect and the sneaker shows the western aspect. There is contrast between the red and black color which I really like as it has a nice balance of bright color and dark color. The tree and the mountains also gives the composition an interesting look and balance of objects in the piece. The japanese writing is the word "AIR" which is NIKE signature word. The sneakers are also set in the middle to give it the center of attraction which shows the main point of this piece.

Sense of Place(Project 2)
[week 10]
Sketches[week 10]
For our second project, we were to go to an area (outdoors) that is near where we live. Going there at different times to get a different feel for each time and to analyse the visual language. Then we need to construct a 2d visual representation of the place. These are the photos that I have used to create the final piece.

Final Piece
This is my final piece of this project. I have chosen eco mart located at DK Senza as my location. When sitting at this convenience store(eco mart), there is a lot of feelings and vibes that I get from this place. This is the place where I take a rest from assignments usually late at night or early in the morning (12am-3am). There are not a lot of people sitting here, so it has a calming and chill atmosphere. I also do my personal creative work here, like sketching and brainstorming ideas. During those late nights/early mornings, this area would be very dark but eco mart still shines bright till the sun rises, hence the reason why I added bright colors in my piece and also because bright ideas usually comes during this time.

Self Portrait (Project 1)
[week 9]
For our first project, we were given the chance to create a self portrait with any medium or material we want. This project was to create a self portrait that doesn't have to portray the exact physical features of our face but more of an expression of who we are. These are a few sketches that I made before doing drawing it digitally.
Examples
These are a few photos of self portrait that I researched on the internet for inspiration.

Final Piece
This is my final piece of this project. I was quite happy with how it turn out and I think it shows who I am. The portrait shows that I'm an insecure and introverted person symbolized using the mask, and the monotone colors shows my mellow and toned down feelings. However the background shows what i try to express to my surroundings which is a calm and positive person.

Rhythm, Movement and Harmony
[week 7]
On the 7th week, we were task to create an artwork using collages which incorporates rhythm, movement and harmony. There are no sketches for this because I didn't do any and immediately create the final piece.
Examples
These are a few photos of rhythm, movement and harmony that I researched on the internet for inspiration.

Final Piece
This is the final piece for the topic rhythm, movement and harmony. I didn't really like how collages sometimes looks messy, so I decided to make a simple one. Here I was going for all 3 rhythm, movement and harmony. The repetition of shapes and rows create rhythm while the triangular shapes lined up create movement and lastly the colors create a satisfying look to it which shows harmony.
